Soho House Grey Goose Pre-Oscar Party
February 23, 08 by AngelicThere’s nothing better than celebrating your birthday with your closest gal pal by your side - a sentiment clearly held by Charlie’s Angels co-stars and best friends Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.
Locked in a warm hug, it was clear the pair were sharing a special moment on the eve of Drew’s special day as they partied away the last hours of the actress’ 32nd year at a pre-Oscars party in LA on Thursday night.
Though their hectic schedules often keep them apart, the pair always make the effort to be together on Drew’s birthday. Last year they jetted to Hawaii to celebrate with a sunshine- and surf-filled break before flying back for the Academy Awards.
With this year’s ceremony just days away, Drew and Cam were joined at the party by a host of famous faces gearing up for the event. Anna Friel - the latest British actress to hit Hollywood - put in a glam appearance with her partner, Harry Potter actor David Thewlis. Also on hand were Spanish best supporting actor nominee Javier Bardem and Madonna.

Drew Barrymore’s advice to young Hollywood
February 23, 08 by AngelicAmerican actress Drew Barrymore has a piece of advice for young Hollywood stars who are entering rehab. Drew’s stardom started at a very young age, and she had trouble handling it. She started drinking at the age of 9, smoked marijuana at 10, and snorted cocaine at 13.
By the time she was 14-years-old, she had been in rehab twice. The 32-year-old actress, who has been sober for sometime, decided to offer her advice when she saw the rise in the number of young actresses currently entering rehab. “If you don”t pull it together for yourself, no one else will,” US mag quoted her as saying in the March issue of Vogue. Near the entrance, Drew Barrymore, wearing a black-and-yellow Gucci dress, and her new beau, Justin Long, had a question for Jennifer Lopez.
“When are we going to do game night?!” Barrymore asked the pregnant singer, who was accompanied by husband Marc Anthony and a team of bodyguards.
“He’s the BEST gamer,” Barrymore said, pointing to Long.
“We’re into Scrabble and charades,” Long said.
Barrymore recently finished shooting “Grey Gardens,” a movie based on the documentary of the same name about “Big” Edith and “Little” Edith Bouvier Beale, Jacqueline Kennedy’s reclusive aunt and cousin. Barrymore plays the younger Edie, who gained sartorial notoriety in the 1970s for wearing odd head coverings made of skirts and towels and broaches.
Preparing for the role meant reading Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Marble Faun,” a book referenced often in the documentary, and watching the movie to “a psychotic degree,” Barrymore said. She also lived for a period a la “Little” Edie Beale, without television, magazines, newspapers, computer or phone.
“But even under normal circumstances,” said Long, “we like to be a little reclusive together.”
