Arriving in the #1 box-office spot this weekend with $27.5 million, “He’s Just Not That Into You” proves, if nothing else, that none of us are alone in our malaise regarding the opposite sex. Sure, there weren’t many good movies opening this week (*cough*Pink Panther 2*cough*), but the fact that a movie regarding frustration with unrequited feelings wound up in first place certainly speaks volumes about our country’s emotional maturity level.
Prior to the film’s debut, Us Weekly decided to ask some of the movie’s stars, “What was the worst date you’ve ever been on?” While hopefully not, some of the answers might seem familiar.
“You know, luckily I haven’t had that many bad dates,” Drew Barrymore told Us. “I went through that with this lawyer and we sort of looked at each other at dinner and went, ‘Yeah, no. This isn’t going to work!’ We sort of shook hands and ended the evening.”Having dated 3 out of every 5 guys in Hollywood, it’s not surprising Barrymore hasn’t been on that many bad dates. The only pre-requisite seems to be that the guy is attracted to her
According to Jennifer Aniston, “Never order a cherry tomato! I was on a date with this guy…there was a cherry tomato, and he bit into it, and it was all over my white dress.”
Wow! Worst date? A tomato stain? Maybe we’ve been wrong to feel sorry for your luck with men all these years
Switching over to the fellas, Us was able to nab this sad morsel from Mac Spokesperson (and recent Barrymore ex) Justin Long.
“I went out with a girl in college. She was the first girl I ever had the courage to ask out blind, without any preamble. She spent the entire time asking about my friend, James. Literally everything I said like, ‘How’s your coffee?’ and she would say, ‘Fine. I wonder if James would like this?’”
Long added, “I finally [asked if she wanted me to set them up], and she said, ‘Could you? Would that be really weird?’ And I did. I’m such a push over. And James asked if it was weird, and I said, ‘I guess not,’ and they ended up dating.”
We’re definitely buying a PC for our next laptop
Finally, Kevin Connolly, known best as the vertically challenged co-star of “Entourage,” whose past girlfriends have included Nicky Hilton, Nikki Cox and Alyssa Milano, had this tale to offer.
“Years ago I went on a date to a bar. We had some food and a couple of drinks. When we were leaving, we got pulled over, and she got locked up for a DUI. I felt so bad.”
So, basically, some girl picked YOU up and took YOU to a bar, only to be pulled over and arrested later in the evening…probably not her greatest date either
Good grief.
