The Hollywood dating scene loves Drew Barrymore, but for the past several months the actress has taken herself off the circuit, voluntarily.
The star hasn’t dated anyone (in a serious sense, at least) since breaking up with ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ co-star Justin Long sometime last summer. “I’ve been single for eight months,” she tells E! News. “I’m not in the wrong relationship and it’s great!”
Word of the Barrymore-Long bust-up came down the pike in early July (less than 7 months ago), so either her math is wrong, or her publicist deserves a cookie for keeping the news so hush-hush.Barrymore says she and Long are still chummy, and that it all can be credited to how they ended the nearly year-long courtship. Honesty is the best policy for the star when it comes to ending relationships.
“Not telling me? That pisses me off more than anything,” she says. “I can take it. I’m a big girl. At least you know what you’re working from: Oh, he told me he’s not into me? Well, I guess there’s nothing to analyze there. What a time saver!”
The actress hasn’t exactly been a recluse since the summer, though. In September, she had a very public make-out session with ‘Gossip Girl’ star Ed Westwick at a Kings of Leon concert, and in late December was rumored to be dating ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actor Jason Segal after the pair were reportedly spotted “kissing and touching each other” while on a karaoke date.
The film ‘He’s Just Not That into You’ will be out February 6.
