Grammy award winning rapper/actor Eve will co-star in Drew Barrymore’s directorial film debut, Whip It!, based on a beauty-pageant contestant turned roller derby competitor.
According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), the project began production earlier this month and focuses on a misfit woman looking to relieve her small-town complications by joining a team of roller derby women based out of Bodeen, Texas. Shauna Cross, who is also writing the screenplay, based the comedy/drama on her young adult novel Derby Girl.
While details are still scarce, Eve’s role has been confirmed, as she will be playing alongside the main character “Bliss Cavendar”, portrayed by Ellen Page (Juno), as her sidekick and friend “Rosa Sparks”.
This will be Eve’s latest movie role as she has starred in various films including both Barbershop movies, The Woodsman, The Cookout and on her own self-titled television show.
Currently being filmed in Michigan, the R-rated flick is scheduled to hit theatres next year.

I live in Birch run and It was amazing to drive past the site every day!! I am a big fan and it was really amazing to finally see her set up close it’s very interesting on top of the diner their is a giant pig it’s really amazing!! Not to mention having someone with that big of celebrity status in my hometown was kinda cool. I even heard rumors that she had a drink at the small restaurant/pub called Tiffany’s in Frankenmuth!!
